The Prop
Yong Wan Choi 12.11.11
On days when the wind shakes the roots
the body that leans on it does not fall
In hard times when mountains crumble and boulders tumble
it holds me upright as I wither and dry
When my heart bows its head, ashamed to be a burden,
a tender smile meets me face to face
and with compassionate eyes tends to all around me
Born of a single piece of a body, lifted in a hand,
the heart dwelling in that blue sky
the body set down on this hard earth
while we live leaning on each other as one
it props up this one life to the very end
In its embrace I bow my head
