Love descended deep into the mother's womb
a body that settled in place with a flick of its tail muscles

From a worm that crawls on its belly along blades of grass
to a beast that runs on four legs over mountains and fields
to the form of a human
who builds houses, stands and walks on two feet
and at last
in the shade where the moon hides the sun
a baby who has received the heart of heaven

There is a sea inside the body
swimming and playing in salt water
it is pushed out of the cave
the first cry blown from the lungs
a morning of the earth's rumbling, blooming from soil into light

Raising a flower stalk on this earth for thirty-five billion years
the dance of wildflowers blooming and fading on the mother's body
