Because hands prepare food every day
and feet forever tread the ground in search
between the morning light flashing up
and the evening glow going down

we bear children to carry on our lives
while life stretches from the earth to the sky

If arms were wings, I would want to fly up high
if feet were fins, to swim beneath the sea
if the body were a rock, to float like a star in the void
if the heart were water, to become a raindrop from a cloud

When I realize I have lived because I had dreams
how far is it from here to there

One day, having at last found our places,
we each go back, separately, to where we began
perhaps because we cannot ask why we came this far
and must simply say, all right, and part
